How is the windows program ?
The program installs:
- a Windows Service, which runs in background. It is in charge of connecting to your account and if the computer is lost to send to your account the tracking information.
- a Windows user program which can be used to configure the settings (username, password) and check the running status of the Windows Service.
How secure is LaptopAntiLoss ? Can't a thieve just uninstall the program ?
Our idea is to rely on existing Windows Security. Please refer to the technical notes.
We explain in there how to properly configure your users and passwords to protect your machine.
We'll explain you how to protect the "Administrative" rights on your machine, so you prevent any uninstall of the program.
At the same time, you will let a "Guest" user available, so to maximize the chances that someone connects to the Internet with your computer.

What if a thieve formats the harddrive ?
As in previous section: it is possible and actually quite easy to configure your Windows system and secure the BIOS settings so that people can NOT format your harddrive.
We don't need to hack your system (like other products do). Just configure it in a simple and secured way.

Other programs give a possibility to recover data. Don't you ?
Honestly, do you think it is a good idea to try to recover your data *after* your computer has been lost or stolen ??
You'd better think about backup before.
Guess what - here again, we do not plan write yet another backup software.

Moreover, Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7 all include backup software free for you to use.
Other programs give a possibility to delete data remotly. Don't you ?
Here again: why wait until it is too late ?
Windows and other operating systems (Linux, Apple) include encryption, which basically means that nobody can access your data until they have your secret password.

Can someone boot with USB key, delete the security program and then use my laptop ?
As usual: other softwares have BIOS hacking technology. We do NOT plan to do so.
Please refer to technical notes and see how the BIOS Password can be used to protect your machine.
With BIOS Password, it will not be possible for another person that yourself to boot from a USB Key and temper with your system.
